First Trip to Iowa

This past weekend was Anna's first official trip to Iowa. She was quite a trooper! We left on Friday night at around 5:00 when we picked Brian up from work and didn't get to Nevada until 10:15. That's right, 5 hours later! It wasn't Anna's fault that it took so long, it was mostly the hour of construction that we sat in before we even got out of the great state of Minnesota! Anna didn't like the construction and cried through most of it, mostly when it was standstill traffic. Once we finally got through the traffic we were able to find a place to grab some supper for all three of us. That made Anna much happier and we were able to continue the rest of the trip peacefully.

Saturday was a busy day. Anna went to Grandpa Scarlett's work and met some of the guys at the shop...he was one proud grandpa! After that Anna met her Great Grandpa and Grandma Hill. They just loved her, of course :) We had lunch with them and Grandma and Grandpa Fiscus at their new house and later that afternoon headed to Grandma and Grandpa Scarlett's house. There she met Uncle James for the first time. He was even able to make her stop crying when she was upset! We enoyed supper and a good time there.

Great-Grandpa and Grandma HillSunday we went to church and met Rev. Steve Williams who married Brian and me. Anna also met many other great people including Mr. Mittman (everyone's favorite math teacher). It was a full morning.

We headed back early on Sunday, hopeful to make it a shorter trip home than it was coming south, and we were fairly successful. We got home and had some time to relax before beginning another work week for Brian. It was a good time for everyone, but it sure was tiring. We get to do it again this coming weekend when we go to Lindsay and Andy's wedding. It will be a very joyful occassion that we have been looking forward to for a long time! We'll post pictures when we get back!
