Snow Days!

We got a half-snow day today!  School got out at 11:30 so I picked Anna up after lunch at daycare and we had the afternoon at home to play.  She's napping now, kind of late for her, but at least it's happening!  We've been very slow with pictures lately or perhaps it's that Anna is too fast for pictures!  So, perhaps this afternoon after she wakes up we'll do a photo shoot and I'll further update you on her cuteness.  For now, a little Anna update is in order.

19 month update/Some of Anna's favorites:
  • Anna's tall.  About 2 inches taller than Britta at daycare, and she is 9 months older than Anna.  Most people can't believe she's only 1.5 years old.
  • Anna's hair is constantly in her face.  It's at an awkward length, where we don't want to cut the bangs, we want them to go to the side, but they're not quite heavy enough, so unless we pull her hair up (which with hat season is difficult) she's kind of like Cousin It.
  • Dolls.  Anything baby is her thing right now.  She must go to bed every night with Brett (Brian's cabbage patch from childhood) and Baby (Anna's first real doll that doesn't have a name yet).  She likes to wrap them up in blankets, put them night-night, and even sit them on her potty.
  • Anna likes to sit on the potty and only on a few occasions out of what we're calling luck, has anything actually happened on the potty.  We are thrilled though, that she has no fear of it, and loves to sit on the big potty as well as her own little potty.
  • Anna's appetite has slowed down a bit...don't worry, she's still eating very regular meals, she's just normalizing.  She's still not picky and doesn't turn much away.  Thanks to the holiday season her currently favorite is anything that looks like, smells like, or we call a COOKIE!
  • Anna still cries herself to sleep every night.  The doctors early on said let her cry it out, in about 7-14 days she'll be fine...we're up to 7-14 months and we still cry to sleep.  However, recently more advice has pointed to this being normal, so we're not really concerned, we're just very sure she's not quite ready for the big girl bed.  She cries and jumps in her bed like she wants out...the big girl bed she can get out of...so for now, we just play with our new Elmo bed.
  • Any time Anna is thirsty she asks for her "milfk", and yes, there is supposed to be an f in there.  Water qualifies as milfk in Anna's world.  It's just her word for "beverage please, I'm parched."
  • Moomies are another frequent request of Anna's.  AKA Movies such as Oliver and Company and The Lion King are favorites.  She enjoyed Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph.  Although, when moomies are on TV they have commercials and she doesn't like commercials.
  • Anna's a pro at the stairs and opening the gate.  The gate at the top is just to keep people from getting into our house in her mind.  She mans the gate often, deciding who gets to come "up" and who doesn't.
  • Pascal is her favorite pet, but only because Lola won't get anywhere near Anna.  Poor Pascal is rough housed every day.  He takes it very well.
  • Blankets are an obsession for Anna.  She must have multiple in her crib every night and she's always getting out more and dragging them all over the house.  For Christmas from Sandra she got a Snuggie with her name on it; perfect gift for Anna!
Well, for now, that's all the updating I have in my head.  I'm sure there is more.  This weekend Anna's friend Oliver came over and she had a wonderful time sharing her toys with him.  They had fun eating supper together at the little table and played very happily the whole time Oliver and his parents were here.  We are both looking forward to our nice long Christmas break and spending lots of time with family and friends.

Pictures may come later tonight....
