Thanksgiving and Christmas Preparations

Again, it's been a while, but that just means lot of pictures for a post!

The weekend before Thanksgiving we stayed home and got our house ready for Christmas because traditionally we do this Thanksgiving weekend, but we were heading to Iowa all weekend, so we wanted it Christmas-y when we returned (ok, it was mostly I wanted it decorated, but we all had fun).

Anna and Mommy put the tree together.  We are thinking that may be next year we'll get a real tree...but for now, we are happy with our artificial, bug free tree :)
High five for putting it all together!
Anna was in charge of the ribbon.
She also really loved playing with her nativity set under the tree...before the presents arrived.
Tuesday before Thanksgiving we made a little road trip to Winona to see Aunt Kate play basketball.  Anna had her Clarke apparel....Mommy is hoping for something for Christmas :)
Climbing all over the bleachers.  She didn't watch too much of the game, but she was the cutest fan there!
 Good work Aunt Kate!
Aunt Kate came home with us that night and Anna got to spend Wednesday with her.  They played pretty hard, on our trip to Iowa, Anna slept most of the way....until supper time!

For Thanksgiving we got to spend time with all the grandparents and even the great-grandparents.  We did a little Christmas with the Great-grandparents before they headed south to warmer weather!

Anna ready for her first Christmas celebration of the year.
With Great Papa Clyde and Great Grandma Lois.
On Saturday we went with Grandma Lynn and Aunt Kate to meet some other aunties to do some shopping.  Papa Dave gave Anna some money to spend while she was there and this was her choice for one of her dollars.  I was shocked it cost a buck, but she was happy!
Thanksgiving was wonderful.  Daddy got to help Papa Randy work on finishing another bedroom in their basement and lots of progress was made.  Anna got to spend lots of time with Grandmas and Grandpas and was of course spoiled!
When we got home we got right to more fun Christmas projects last week and weekend.

Project number one, make a beautiful Christmas painting to send to Aunt Kate.

Project number two, cut out sugar cookies.

It was really messy, but Anna did an excellent job and made some beautiful cookies.
Project number three, decorate those cookies!

They certainly look beautiful.  While we won't be sharing many of these cookies with neighbors or friends (due to the many finger lickings and sprinkle tastings that occurred) we are excited to enjoy them.

More fun projects to come....Christmas is getting closer and Anna loves opening her Advent calendar doors every day.  Especially the one with the chocolates!  We did get to go and sit on Santa's lap last weekend too, but we didn't get a picture, just a video.  She was pretty shy but did manage to get out that she wants him to bring her a Barbie, 16 more days and she'll find out....
