Sisters

Monday when Claire was born, we called the troops (Aunt Kate and Grandma Lori and Grandpa Fiscus) in charge of Anna and let them know she could finally come and meet her new sister!  She was very excited!  The night before Anna and Mommy picked out her outfit for the next day and she got her present for the baby all pulled out from the hiding place she had it in her closet (so the baby couldn't see it).

Here she is all ready to go meet Claire!
On the elevator with Daddy--clutching her present for Claire--looking a little nervous.
Anna was a little apprehensive about the whole hospital thing, but quickly settled in and quickly fell in love with her sister.  Claire was pretty relaxed about the whole thing; she loves her big sister.

Mommy and her girls.
Very happy Big Sis and a very sleepy Little Sis.
Anna brought Claire a Bunny from Build-A-Bear named "Bunny."  Claire had the same idea and got Anna a puppy from Build-A-Bear named "Reuben!"
 Family of four!

One of the highlights of meeting her little sister was checking out all the "awesome" hospital food.  Anna was very excited to help Mommy eat her supper.

After the first visit, Anna headed out with the troops and got some supper for herself.  Of course she was spoiled and got to go to McDonald's!  She came right back after supper to make sure she got another chance to hang out with Claire.

Claire loved having Anna hold her.
 Are you in there Claire?

Anna was sure to keep a close eye on the nurse while Claire got her first bath.
After supper and bath, Anna brought some books to share with Claire.  Anna read some of them to Claire and Mommy had to help with some others.
Anna spent some of the time in the hospital practicing putting Reuben in the bassinet so she would be a pro by the time Claire got home.
 Our happy family!
 Anna and Claire--Cyclone Fans!

It was an awesome first few days of watching these two sisters interact and get to know one another.  We are looking forward to the years ahead and the adventures these two will share.

Random Related Side Story:
The moment finally arrived, the baby is finally here and Anna can say "I was right! It's a sister!" Throughout the pregnancy Anna has said it's a sister; really insisted that it was a sister. Many say that the child's intuition is often accurate--and in this case, it was right on. Now, what was maybe a tiny bit off was the name. Anna has been saying since November, that the baby was a sister and we should name her Reuben Marie. Well, it was a sister, however we didn't name her Reuben Marie. Of course we have been sharing this fun story with many people over the past few months, including our nurse the day of Claire's birth. She came into our room a few hours before Claire was born and said, "You are not going to believe this!" She said the people next door to our room just delivered their baby and they named him Reuben. Woah. Anna apparently knew somewhere along the way there would be a baby Reuben near her new sister!
