Spring Break 2014

This past week was our spring break and it was a wonderful 9 days away from school, spending lots of time playing!

Our break started with snow on Monday:

But we were not about to let a little snow dampen our spirits!  We played on!

Monday we got some things caught up at home and ran errands.  Of course when errands include an oil change, that means we get to stop for ice cream at Culver's!
Monday also included dress up....but Claire doesn't love to have her picture taken and ran up the stairs from me when I asked to take her picture in her cute 'ladybug' dress.

Tuesday we went out for lunch with Daddy after a visit to the 'big' library.

Wednesday we visited friend Pam and got to go to Chuck E. Cheese with her and our friends Jessica and Evan.  They both had a lot of fun, played a lot of games and won a lot of prizes!  As if that wasn't enough for one day, the girls got to have a Frozen party with friend Shari and Mommy and Daddy had a little date!

Thursday was a dreary, rainy day, but we still had fun at home.  We colored, played a lot of Old Maid and Go Fish and lots more dress up.

Friday was packing day for our big weekend trip to the water park.  Anna has been excited for the past month about our trip to the water park.  She was giddy with excitement on Friday for sure!

Saturday we got up at 5:15 am to head north.  First stop was a bowling tournament for Daddy.
The girls enjoyed watching him bowl.

Anna took a picture too!

After bowling, we had lunch and then headed to the hotel for water park fun.  We went straight to the water park and played until Anna asked if we could go to our room.  She was tired!  So we headed back, showered up and went out to explore the area.  After only about a 10 minute drive, both girls were OUT.  So, we drove around Gull Lake, checked out the sites and sounds and enjoyed a quiet drive.

We hit up a great pizza place for dinner and then of course the girls were refueled for round 2 at the pool that night.  We again, swam until Anna requested we be done.  We headed back, showered again, got jammies on and watched a movie to rest.

The girls in their jammies.

The girls stayed up much later than we expected, but were finally asleep by 9:30... Mommy and Daddy had fallen asleep too!

Of course the girls were up bright and early.  Claire and Anna had slept on a mattress on the floor together, it was cute listening to Anna tell Claire, "Be quiet, so we don't wake up mom and dad."  She's such a fantastic big sister and Claire usually listens to what Anna tells her.

We headed out for breakfast by 7:15, came back to pack up our stuff and get ready to hit the water park one more time.  This time Claire wasn't as into it, but Anna did not want to do anything but go down the giant water slide.  It seemed like it was about 10 flights of stairs you had to climb to get to the top and she and I climbed it at least 15 times this morning alone without a break of just plain old swim time.  It was a great time and not too busy so we got to keep going down the slide without much waiting in line.  I think 15 was the magic number because Anna decided she just wanted to swim for a bit before we had to leave for the day.

We were able to get a few pictures this morning to show our fun.

Mommy and Claire watching the water.

Anna playing in the geyser.

Claire loved the geysers yesterday, but today was not as into it all.

I'm done Mom.

Anna still having fun!

"Mom, I have to show you one more thing!"

Anna saw the bigger kids going across this 'log' in the water and had to try it out.  She couldn't reach the ropes to help you across, but did ok with Mom's help.

No hands!

Mom and her girls.

We all had a great trip.  Brian was there too, but apparently spent too much time behind the camera!  It was so nice to get back today to the beautiful warm weather.  We spent ALL afternoon outside once we got home.  Anna rode her bike with some neighborhood girls up and down our street and Claire showed me her mad skills on the scooter; she really does know how to use a scooter, puts her little foot down to push herself and all.  I was impressed!

It was a wonderful break.  We are not too excited about getting up early Monday morning, but we'll do it.  It just means 9 more weeks until SUMMER!

******************************

I'll end with these two funny pictures...

Claire does not like to have her picture taken.  Here she was saying, "No, no, no." when I asked if I could take her picture in her crown and princess shoes.

But I surprised her on this one and got a smile!

Cutie.
