The First Cereal Experience...

We have some catching up to do...

We had a very exciting weekend in Iowa. The drive down on Friday evening went well, especially since MNDOT has started bringing construction projects to a close! We got there at a decent time and got to see everyone before we hit the hay.

Saturday at lunch we attempted Anna's first cereal experience. She was a pro from the start! The doctor had said she may not be ready, but we were cleared to give it a try and if she spit it all out or couldn't figure out how to swallow it, it meant she wasn't ready. Well...this girl knew what that spoon was the second she saw it and opened WIDE! She even offered her assistance to get the spoon to her mouth a little faster when mom wasn't doing the job well enough for her taste. Here are some pictures of the event:

FIRST BITE!
Mmmmmmm....

"Hey! Bring that back here!"
"It's so fun to have a messy face."
Funny girl.
"Uhhh...I think I ate too much."
Cute bib during her second cereal experience on Sunday.
After a couple successful cereal experiences, we have decided to continue and she has had cereal every night when we eat supper. In the coming weeks we'll probably add a feeding of cereal either in the morning or at lunch time. Then we'll get to start trying some other foods besides rice cereal...sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, beans, squash....oh the options are endless. In fact, we are going to attempt to make our own food, seems pretty simple and a friend from school is going to bring us fresh produce from his garden, so it will be good!
Saturday night we went to a high school friend's wedding. It has been a while since there was a just Brian and Chris picture so we took a few.
And of course one with Anna too!
The wedding was fun and so was the rest of our Iowa visit. Lots of fun time with Grandparents, Aunt and Uncle, and even Great-Grandparents. Below are some pictures of our adventures.

Showing Aunt Katie where her nose is located.
The girls...
Uncle James makes me smile.
Laying on the floor with Grandpa and Grandma F and Great-grandparents too! Look at that great head control.
Playing with toys.
Sleeping with Grandma.
Grandpa playing with my toes.
After all that cereal and mess Anna needed a bath!
We got home on Sunday night and we were all sleepy, but we were ALL good travelers. Hopefully that trend continues as we have more trips planned this year!
This week has proven to be a busy one already...but thankfully tomorrow is Friday and the weekend is near! We are going to see Anna's good little buddy Aaron this weekend and his mom and dad too. It will be fun; we haven't seen them since the 4th of July! Aaron and Anna have both done some major growing since then! We'll definitely have some more pictures to post when we get back!
