Virginia Beach 2010, Part One

On Saturday morning, our little family began our journey across the country to see Anna's Aunt Amy, Uncle Jason, and new baby cousin Will.  Grandma and Grandpa F met us there as well.  It was a wonderful five day trip, and a life experience for Anna. She had a wonderful time playing, showing off, seeing new things, and just being with family.  We have a TON of pictures; so I have only uploaded the first half of the journey, obviously very abbreviated, but you will get a good feel of the trip.  There will be more posts with the other half of the trip as well as some fun new video of Anna's latest trick!

We left at 6:00 AM on Saturday to take Grandma and Grandpa F to the airport for their flight to VA.  Our flight wasn't until later, so we grabbed some breakfast and a couple things we forgot at the store and then headed to the airport with our stuff too!

For starting out so early, Anna was having a great time...she's quite the climber!
Watching the airplanes.
Running through the airport with Daddy!
Spotted something on the floor...
We didn't get any pictures of Anna on the actual airplane...for a number of reasons.  Our first flight was just to Chicago, and by the time we were boarding Anna had crashed.  She slept most of the flight to Chicago, but then was wide awake for the rest of our journey to Virginia Beach.  Anna flew out there pretty well (obviously since she was sleeping for part of it) but she enjoyed playing with her toys and looking out the window for the second leg of the journey.  She was overall, a great traveler.

We arrived in Virginia in the afternoon on Saturday.  We got to see cousin Will and Amy and Jason and their place.  It was a nice evening just relaxing and enjoying family after a busy day of traveling.  (More pictures will be coming of Anna's first meeting with cousin Will.)

On Sunday, we got a bright and early start on the day heading to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel.  We got out at the lookout and had to get some pictures!

Standing over the entrance of the tunnel.
At the look out.
Anna as a crab.
Walking out on the pier.
Mommy and Anna and her squishy cheeks.
After the tunnel we went further up the shoreline to Kiptopeke State Park.  There was a great beach there for finding shells and Anna's first feel of the ocean.

Anna loved the water!
We wrote her name in the sand.
Family photo at Kiptopeke.
Walking on the beach.
The gang.  Jason, Amy, Will (under the blanket), Daddy, Anna, and Mommy.
After our trip to Kiptopeke, Anna was hungry.  We grabbed a lunch and then headed back south.  We then went to First Landing, another great beach area.

Anna stilled crashed when we were at the information center.
Will crashed too!
First Landing.
Enjoying the breeze in her hair.
First feel of the sand.
Getting a big handful.
Anna's giant sandbox!

Mommy, I want a sandbox for my birthday!
Sand blowing in the wind.

Want some?

Then of course, she tried to eat it...
Trying to clean her face off...
Walking to find more shells.

After First Landing we went to Fort Story.  It's a military base, so we had to have the car searched before we could pass through.  Another great beach area to visit.

Family picture.
It was a long day for the babies.  So they stayed in the car with Grandma and Grandpa and slept and ate while Uncle Jason and Aunt Amy gave Mommy and Daddy a tour of the Naval base.  Very interseting tour.
On Monday it was rainy so Grandpa, Daddy, Mommy, and Anna went to the Virginia Beach Aquarium.  Anna LOVED the fish!
She even got to touch different sea creatures!

She wanted to touch everything!

She tried to touch a sting ray, but it wouldn't come quite close enough.
Having a beverage.
More fish.
Our attempt at a family picture.  Anna didn't want to sit still for it so this was the best we could do.  She wanted to keep exploring!
Most of the aquarium trip went like this...Anna pulling on Mommy or Daddy's hand ready to run and explore the next thing!

Well, that's the first half of our trip.  It was a great trip and there are MANY more pictures to come...and many more that could have gone in this post!  Next I'm going to work on getting a video posted of Anna's latest trick...
