Rejuvenated!

We just had a most fun weekend with friends and despite traveling, still feel refreshed and rejuvenated after spending such a relaxing fun weekend with Lindsay and Andy!  Lindsay and I have been friends since college, and after college have become even closer.  We are both teachers, so that has always been our common bond, but over the years it has become much more.  We love spending time with her and her husband; they are so great with Anna and we have so much fun when we are together.

This weekend, we went back to Waverly to stay with them.  We have stayed with them a few times, but it always seems as though it is a rushed trip because we were just passing through the area.  This time we were able to spend the whole weekend hanging out, enjoying wonderful food, and catching up on our busy lives!  A little trip to Wartburg College was also involved, Lindsay and I were alumni representatives interviewing prospective students.  It was a great time, and fun to see the new faces of Wartburg.

Of course, Anna had a wonderful time as well.  While we were at scholarship day, she got to spend the day playing with Daddy and Andy.  They took her out for lunch, wore all the stickers she stuck on them, and played all afternoon.  She was pretty worn out by Saturday night, as she even went to bed easily at 8:00.

Never does a visit with Lindsay and Andy go by without some sort of delicious dessert or experimental food.  This time, Lindsay surprised me with a "Golden Birthday Cool Cookie."  (Cool cookies are famous at Wartburg--two chocolate chip cookies with ice cream in the middle.)  But this wasn't just any cool cookie, this was a homemade beast!  And a delicious one at that!

Anna and Mommy posing by the cool cookie.  She couldn't take her eyes off it!  She loved it!  She had herself a little slice and was on a bit of a sugar high on Friday night!
Up close and personal with the cool cookie!
 Lindsay and Anna.  Beautiful girls!
On Sunday we were getting reorganized before church and Anna was digging through her diaper bag and found these long lost sunglasses she got from a visit to Trader Joes.  She wouldn't take them off most of the morning!

It was a wonderful weekend.  Tough to put into words all the fun we had!  The bonus...they are coming up in two weeks to go to Shrek the musical and hang out for the weekend, so we get to relive it all over again!

In other Anna news, there have been a few stories I've been meaning to get written down so I don't forget.

Anna is becoming a huge copy cat.  A few examples:
  • She likes to put in her "contacts" every morning just like Daddy.  She even blinks really hard after she puts them both in.
  • Also part of her morning routine:  lotion, deodorant, and hairspray.  All mimicking of course!
  • At church on Sunday morning, Anna repeated the last word of many of the sentences Father said.  She said some really big words!
Anna loves to dance and make her babies dance too.  She often asks to turn the music on so she can dance.

Along with dancing, another favorite is singing.  She knows all the actions and some of the words to "The Wheels on the Bus."  I think her favorite part might be the driver telling them to "move on back!"

Anna has already developed a great love of ISU.  Andy and Lindsay are Hawk fans, and any time she saw Andy's hat, she said "acky hat."

For now, that will suffice.  We had a great weekend, have already started back to a busy week and are looking forward to grandparents coming this weekend!  We are just full at excitement at our house!
