Ann-A

The adventure continues...

We've had a busy past few days; with visits from "Unkl Jame" and "Papa" S. Anna was in heaven!  Anna got to spend Saturday playing with Papa while Uncle James was out snowmobiling with friends, but she definitely got to enjoy some time with him that evening and Sunday before they headed back to Iowa.  She loves having visitors so she can show off all her toys, especially her fishy puzzle...no one gets to leave our house without playing fishy puzzle!

Sunday we had a nice day at home as a family, playing with lots of toys, building "forts" and dancing.  Anna got to build a fort when she went to visit her friend Aaron and she hasn't stopped talking about it.  Well, I'm only a novice fort builder, and Daddy made fun of our not-well-supported fort, but Anna was happy and really, that's all that matters at this point!

Anna spent most of her fort time in the best stabilizer of the fort we had...her car.
And the mix of the car and the blanket caused a bit of static...
Oh my!
After our fort building, we turned on the music and Anna wanted to dance.  Dancing for Anna typically consists of holding our hands and then falling down swinging from our arms.  She's not quite the mover and shaker yet.  After some dancing she chilled in the rockin' recliner.

The weekend sadly came to an end and Monday was upon us before we were ready.  We have already had a very busy Monday and are geared up for a busy Tuesday as well.  Today after school I came home, picked up Anna and straight back to school we went.  I had a 3:30 meeting and then was going to basketball practice with our girls, who are hopefully on their way to state this year.  Anna got to hang out with another "teacher's kid," Monica.  Monica is a 5th grader and she's also TALL!  We love Monica!  Anna and Monica colored during my meeting and then played in the gym during basketball practice.  Anna is already on her way to being a star ball player...she was having a blast playing on the side courts with the extra basketballs.  After many comments on how tall she is, we headed out and came home for an Anna-Mommy night.  The entire drive home and the entire time making supper, all we talked about was playing basketball, Monica, and fun!

"Mommy basketball?  Fun!  Basketball!  Nicka, go?  Basketball?  Mommy fun?  Basketball!"  That was pretty much how the conversation went.  And she really does a GREAT job of saying basketball...every syllable.  She's already in love!  Thank goodness, we're very nervous that she might like something like hockey....yikes!

Now she's happily in bed, sleeping.  Ready to start our adventures on Tuesday!

I suppose we should explain the title of our blog today.  Ann-A.  I have been corrected.  Her name is Ann-a, not Ann.  Never call her Ann.  (Ok, not never, I still do.) But on more than one occasion, we have been going back and forth, like we often do....

"Mama"
"Anna"
"Mama"
"Anna"

You get the idea.

Sometimes I switch things up and change it to just Ann.  No -a.  She's ok with it a few times, but at least twice now, maybe even three times, she'll stop and say, "Ann-A."  and point to herself, as if I was unsure of her name and she enunciates the A.  I guess she's a no-nickname kind of gal.  So, next time you see her, you will know, it's Ann-a.  Not Ann.

Happy Monday!
