6 Months Old

Miss Claire has just hit the milestone of 6 months old.  It's so hard to believe how quickly she's growing.  Even Dr. Bies this morning commented on how it felt like we were just there for Claire's 4 month appointment and how grown up Claire is looking.

Here are her stats from this morning:
Height:  27.5 inches--95.8%ile
Weight:  18 pounds--84.9%ile
Head:  44 cm--87.6%ile

She is following along in the footsteps of her sister for height.  Not that we're surprised.

Claire is a wonderful baby; she's very happy and has the best smile!

Fun facts about Claire at 6 months:

  1. She's sitting up unassisted.  She doesn't like to lay on the floor anymore; she'll try to pull herself up to sitting by doing crunches for long periods of time.  Once she gets the assistance to be sitting up she is thrilled.  She loves to reach for things, see what's going on, and just be a part of it all.  She thinks she's a big girl.
  2. Claire has been doing great with her solid foods.  She's had squash, peas, carrots, mango, banana, apples, and a few others.  She loves to eat her big girl foods.  She has also started munching on Mum-mums or rice rusks.  She loves that she can feed herself with these.
  3. Claire goes by many nicknames, but her most common ones are:  Boo, Bear, ClaireBear, Sister, and Smalls.
  4. Claire has really started to find Daddy more entertaining.  It was hard for a while, Mommy was her preference and she gave Daddy some trouble on some nights when Mommy was gone, but now Daddy is fun.  She loves his funny faces and games; they had a great night together this week while Mommy was at cooking club.
  5. Chewing on everything is her favorite pastime   Anything she can get in her mouth makes her happy.
  6. Big Sister Anna is her favorite little person.  She watches Anna very intently and will stop squirming or fussing if Anna comes to talk to her.  Big Sister is a great big sister and adores Claire.
  7. Claire's sleeping is still a bit of a mystery.  She really likes to wake up about 1 or 2 AM and get some extra cuddles from Mommy.  Hopefully this will end soon, as Mommy loves cuddles, but not as much at 2 AM.
  8. Claire is trying to figure out the crawling thing, but she really just continues to push herself backwards.  She can scoot all around the living room backwards...but I think that frustrates her more than anything.
Claire is our sweet little peanut and we love to kiss her chubby, dimpled cheeks.  She's going to be on the move and crawling before we know it; it's so hard to believe we are on the downward slide to 1 year old!  We love you Claire!
