We survived the cold of the week and have enjoyed another weekend at home. This week we didn't have the full calendar that we have been experiencing the past few weeks. It was nice to have some nights at home and not feel like we are running all over the place every night!
Claire has finally reached the point where she can play with Anna more. Anna loves to show her how things work, give her toys, and keep her entertained. We got out our baby friendly magnets again and Anna and Claire spent some time sitting in front of the fridge playing this week.
Claire is officially crawling now! It's pretty slow, but she's on the move! We just have to stay one step ahead of her. It's time to fill the outlet holes and dig out the baby gates! Watch out world! Here comes Claire!
Claire is spending much more time on the floor crawling around and playing with toys. Her attention span is lengthening so she can play for longer periods of time without getting frustrated or bored. She's also really good at finding the one thing at her level she shouldn't have....we just have to get back into mobile baby mode.
Tomorrow is my 30th birthday, so this weekend I have been spoiled by Brian and the girls. Yesterday we went out for lunch to celebrate. Then Anna helped make a birthday cake that she picked out from the store for me. She picked a white cake with pink frosting that came with sprinkles. She decided while we were making it that it needed some green food coloring, so it was a green cake with pink frosting. She chose circle pans so it would be a double layer cake.
She had some assistance with the baking, but the frosting, she was all over that!
Claire sat by and smiled a lot.
Spreading out the frosting.
More toothy grins!
After decorating the cake, we tried out making our own goldfish crackers. Mommy has found a few too many fun ideas on Pinterest and this was one of them....
They turned out pretty good and they are probably way better for you than the actual crackers, but wow they are tiny and take a long time to cut them all out. This was just our first pan after it came out of the oven. Anna's job was to put the fish on the pan....I think she did a great job.
After baking, frosting, and goldfish making, we had supper...then it was time for the candles!
Anna put the candles in all by herself.
Beautiful cake.
Claire is VERY excited!
Anna is too!
The candles are lit, make a wish!
Then we re-lit and Anna got a turn!
Green cake, pink frosting. Yum.
Claire got in on the cake action too.
She loved it!
More!
Today we are snuggling in the living room next to the fire as it rains and freezes outside. Maybe we could get a two hour delay or something due to ice tomorrow? That would be a great birthday present to me!
