This weekend was one of the nicest weather weekends we have had since spring officially started, especially today! After a busy week of wrapping up things at school and many other evening commitments, we were ready for a weekend of fun and this weekend delivered!
Friday night was pizza night. We originally headed out to eat pizza at Pizza Ranch, but then as we were on our way to fill up our gas tank we decided it was too beautiful a night to eat inside. So, we grabbed two pizzas from the Kwik Trip, along with a couple bananas and some silverware and plates and headed to the "big park." (Anna names all of our nearby parks to easily identify them.) The big park has a HUGE playground and great picnic area, so we were set. We ate our pizza and played hard. Claire loved climbing on the equipment and Anna wowed us with her 4 year old skills! She was climbing up everything with ease, it was awesome to see the growth since last year. After some good play time, we came home for baths and everyone went to bed happy and worn out!
Saturday was a little less nice outside in the afternoon, but we still got some play time in. We ate our lunch on the deck then after naps we went on a walk and bike ride to test Anna's biking skills. We have an ice cream shop about a mile from our house that is pretty easy to get to via the sidewalk and trails through our neighborhood and she's been wanting to ride her bike to it. So, we decided to see how far she could ride and she did pretty well. She even went up some huge hills. We decided that Sunday was the big day for a bike ride to the ice cream shop.
Sunday was a great day for our bike ride! After church, where Brian and I were the teachers in the preschool room, with the largest group of preschoolers anyone had ever seen in our church (apparently everyone showed up this week), we headed home for lunch and then the ride! Anna and Mommy started out a little after 12. We took the most direct path on the way there. This path included lots of time riding on neighborhood streets and a couple of hills that we struggled to go down slowly, which resulted in one little crash...but we made it in one piece. We were relieved to enjoy some delicious ice cream and then headed back using a different route. We took the sidewalks and trails the long way, and even though it was longer, it was much less stressful. Our neighborhood streets are not real busy, but every time there was a car that passed by us, it made us both a little nervous. Anna's steering skills are still developing...mostly due to her need to watch where she's going more then not, so sidewalks were much safer. We mapped it out and it was about a 2 mile trip. I am so impressed with Anna and her 4 year old legs! She's such a strong girl and on the ride home said she wanted to go on more "adventures like this one!" There will be lots of bike rides in our summer!
After our adventure, we had a little house warming party to go to, then we returned home and enjoyed some time in the driveway. We had the chalk, bikes, scooters and cars out to play. It was a very lovely evening, and I got a few fun pictures of our adorable girls.

It is crazy to think about, and I'm not sure I truly believe it, but 9 days from now, Claire will turn 1 year old! It blows my mind! She's just our tiny baby....who just so happens to be working on walking completely on her own and eating anything she wants, and goes all day without a bottle. What!? That doesn't sound like a tiny baby! Oh, she is growing....so fast. She keeps us on our toes and has developed such an awesome personality. She's our little joke teller! I will have to write a whole new post to tell you all about our 1 year old Claire!
