Earlier this spring we made the decision to add to our family...after much deliberation and research, we decided a collie puppy would be a good addition to our family. We located a breeder in the area and were contacted mid-May with the news of a puppy available to us. So, we visited and selected our new puppy and then preparations began.
The day we went to visit and make our selection, she was only 4 weeks old! So tiny! The girls fell instantly in love.
They were also pretty excited that the owners let them have a horse ride on the farm.
Probably the highlight of their day.
Claire tested out the new kennel.
We went to get her on July 5. She was a little sad about the whole thing and did a little crying and howling on the way home.
We had finally agreed on a name before we got her, Ginger Rose...and she's already got lots of nicknames. We mostly call her Gigi and she has settled in, sometimes responding to it and is a sweet little girl. The name fits her well.
She is very curious and learning lots of new things every day...including how to go up the steps.
She even got to visit my classroom for a bit one day.
She likes sticks and the shade.
And good naps when on car rides.
She loves her new playmates and sisters.
She has met a lot of people and other puppies in the short time we have had her, including her cousin dogs on our trip to Iowa. She's fitting right in...we are figuring out this new lifestyle and really enjoying ourselves. Stay tuned for more adventures with Gigi.
