Treasure Hunt

Almost every day of the past 20+ months we come across another situation/thing that makes us "officially" parents.  Obviously the birth of Anna was the most defining moment, but today I came across another "officially" parents moment.

Back up 5 years...

Cleaning the house is a mundane chore, but we still did it.  We'd flip the cushions on the couch, vacuum under them, sometimes finding a nickel, but never anything exciting.

Fast forward to today...

Under the couch cushions I found:
  • 3 puzzle pieces
  • 1 book
  • some expired coupons
  • 5 stickers in various states of stickiness
  • $25 Border's gift card
  • 1 bookmark
  • 1 Dell advertisement from the newspaper
  • 1 cookie (fake) that goes with Anna's tea set
Now, one would think, wow, it's been a long time since you flipped your couch cushions, but let me assure you, it's only been since we took the Christmas tree down at the end of December.  Perhaps for some people that's a long time, but for me, that's pretty darn good.  Never have I found so much loot.  With a toddler in the house, cleaning is no longer mundane and boring, it's a treasure hunt!
