Happy April! We are shocked to see on the calendar that it is already April 10! Where did March go? May is so close! And May is a big month in our family, Brian's birthday and Anna's birthday all by the half way mark! And this May we also have a big graduation at the end of the month! Very exciting happenings!
This weekend was a stay at home kind of weekend, and we have been most productive. Friday night we went out to a fish fry with good friends. Saturday morning Mommy went shopping at the Kid Stuff Sale put on by the ECFE in our district and had coffee and conversation with two great friends from work. Saturday afternoon Daddy went and ate ribs and watched golf with his good friends from high school. Mommy and Anna just hung out Saturday and enjoyed a nice long afternoon nap.
We did actually bust out the camera this weekend and snap a few pictures of our Princess.
Here's our little model in her fancy skirt.
And an up close view...
Brian and I both noticed this weekend that Anna is really getting to be a big girl. On our way to church this morning we had a little accident in the car which required Mommy to run into Target and buy a new outfit for Anna. Target was definitely lacking in the long sleeves department, so Anna got a new t-shirt and yoga pants. We haven't seen her wearing around just a t-shirt in a while, so today when she put that on she really looked grown up. I'm not sure if it was seeing her arms, and how they are losing the baby pudge or if it was the way her hair was in pig tails that didn't look like sprouts, they actually hang down now. But either way, we both agreed that she isn't a baby. Now, we realize we've had this realization often in the past few months, but something about today really just confirmed it for us.
As for the accident in the car....we think we might have a problem with car sickness. Last week on our way home from Fargo, about 3 minutes from home, Anna puked up her lunch after she woke up from a nap. This week, she ate a hearty breakfast of two point five bowls of cereal and some melon and that all came back up about 3 minutes from church. Needless to say we didn't go to church, but after we got her cleaned up we stopped at the grocery store to grab some necessities and she was running around like a crazy girl! No signs of any illness here. So, if any of our readers are experts in little kids and car sickness--give us pointers!
Anyway, back to the pictures....
Yesterday Anna felt that Pascal needed a blanket for his nap...
Poor Pascal.
Getting covered.
Trying to get out!
Making a run for it!
We should also note that Pascal was not injured in the making of these photographs. He's a very good sport about playing with Anna; sometimes he plays along, sometimes he doesn't.
Last night before Daddy got home, Anna took her bath and then requested a moofie. So, per her request we watched Shrek. We decided to make it extra fun and special and make popcorn to go with our movie. Anna loved watching the popcorn pop in the air popper and was thrilled at the fact that she got her own bowl. She kept pointing and clarifying, "Anna's bowl. Momma's bowl."
I carried the bowls downstairs, she grabbed her blanket and instantly ran to "Daddy's Chair" and climbed in. Here she is all comfy with her blanket and popcorn.
And finally, the reason for the post title. We have had this Elmo bed, borrowed from a friend, for a long time now...perhaps before Christmas? Anna plays with it, puts her baby to sleep in it and just yesterday, I was telling Jessica that she could have it back any time because we NEVER use it. Go figure. Today is the day Anna wants to nap in it. She laid down and was chatting to herself and after about 10 minutes I heard the door knob start to turn. I went in and told Anna she needed to stay in bed and lay her head down. Another 10 minutes and this is what I see:
Her first time sleeping in a big girl bed. Sorry the picture is kind of fuzzy-I didn't want to risk waking her with the flash on.
So there you have it. Not only does she look like a big girl, now she's sleeping in a big girl bed! We probably won't do this for bed time tonight, but at least it's a start. Very timely, as Daddy has been working on Anna's real big girl bed and it should be ready by summer! We're building a frame, headboard and footboard to fit a full size mattress with the hope that she will use this bed for many years to come. We are lucky to have such a talented Daddy around the house!
I LOVE this post!!! You got some great pictures of Anna and I agree, that all of a sudden she is a big girl! I loe the close up picture of her. She looks so beautiful! Sorry I don't have any tips on the car sickness but hopefully you get that figured out. That could be one of the worst places to get sick (for Anna and her parents). :(
