Fargation

This past weekend we took a very mini-vacation to Fargo, ND.  Why to Fargo on spring break you ask?  Well it wasn't for the sandy beaches and warm sun, but it was still a fun time and we did sport our swimming suits!

Daddy had a bowling tournament in Fargo this weekend, so Mommy and Anna tagged along for a fun car ride and some good food and some pool time.

We left Saturday morning bright and early and headed north.  Anna did great on the car ride, only got upset a few times on the four hour journey stating, "Anna stuck!" and pulling against her car seat buckles.  Poor girl.  I know the feeling; I don't like sitting for long car rides either, and she's especially stuck in one position.  But we tried to make it as comfy as possible for her, stopping a few times along the way, getting out to eat, run and play.  She enjoyed her books, cards, toys and of course a showing or two of Shrek and/or The Lion King on the rides there and back.

We then watched Daddy bowl on Saturday, went out for supper with our friends, also there bowling, and had a nice time.  Anna only napped about 20 minutes (right before we got to Fargo) all day long and by 8:30, while we were finishing up supper, was asking, "Bye bye now?  Go night-night?"  Anna never asks to go to bed, she hates going to sleep, so we knew it was time to go.  She was such a trooper though.  Of course late to bed means late to wake up early to rise in our house.  Anna was up at 5:30, we convinced her to lay down for about another hour, which included lots of bouncing, rolling, questions, and not much sleeping for anyone.  So by 6:30 we gave in, got on our swimming suits, had some fruit and dry cereal for a quick breakfast and we headed to the pool.  The pool was a nice one, with four water slides and sprayers and such.  Nothing too big, but it was just perfect for Anna.  The bonus of it all, no one is there at 7:00 AM.  The pool was hoppin on Saturday night, lots of kids splashing and being crazy, good thing we waited until morning to hit the pool.  We had the place to ourselves for over an hour.  We swam, splashed, went down slides, it was a good time and perfect for Anna.  She was very timid at first, wasn't sure about the water and not being able to touch the bottom, but she wore a life vest and quickly took to the water and loved it.  She will be a fish this summer at the beach!

After swimming we went out for breakfast with our friends, and back to more bowling we went.  After more bowling we headed home.  It was a short trip, but a little mini-vacation to Fargo...a Fargation.

Of course, we took the camera and didn't pull it out once.  We debated taking it to the pool, but we weren't sure how good of an idea it would be to take a camera to a big wet busy place...turns out we probably could have, but oh well.

We were so glad to get back home and see that most of the snow was FINALLY gone from our front yard!  There is still a tiny bit left today, but I think after another nice day, it will all be gone.  We are so excited to see grass again and have loved being outside at every opportunity.  Our driveway has been colored many times already with sidewalk chalk.  Lots of fun adventures await us this spring!
