Friday night Anna and Mommy got a night out on the town! The Children's Theater was showing Seussical, so we got tickets and went out for the night. Mommy and Anna haven't had a lot of "just us" time lately, so we thought it was time!
Hugs before we headed out.
We had already had a busy day, and went napless--so I knew she would fall asleep on the way to the 7:00 show. We talked about the show, school, life, everything, trying to keep her awake. And of course it was unsuccessful as, literally, 5 blocks from the theater she fell asleep.
She was so excited though, that when I woke her up she jumped right out of her seat and was ready to see the show! She just needed a 5 minute cat nap!
In front of the sign at the show!
Anna-in-the-Hat!
Checking out her program...picking out the future shows she would like to go to.
Thrilled to have a good seat and a booster to make it a great seat!
The girls at the show!
Afterwards you can meet the characters from the show, but that didn't really interest Anna. We did take a picture of Cat because she thought he was pretty cool. This one is a little blurry...I have another one that's really clear, but it has someone else's children in it and I'm not sure that it's OK to post their pictures on our blog :)
After the show we went out for ice cream! Anna got to pick and she chose Culvers--pretty much the only place she will actually eat ice cream.
Being silly before our ice cream arrived.
When we got there she said she was really hungry (we had eaten at home before the show) and convinced me that she needed a meal....
She did eat the entire thing! She was a hungry girl. The past month she'd been eating like a bird, hardly anything got finished on her plate. That has changed in the past few days though; she's said that she's hungry often between meals (meals that she completely finished) and has been eating like a horse! I think we're going through another growth spurt! Hopefully her fall clothes we just decided will fit this fall actually do!

Saturday was swimming lessons! This week I remembered my camera, although the battery light was flashing, so I got a couple pictures of Anna and Daddy swimming.
Anna's getting much better at jumping into the pool. She's a great kicker, splasher, and bubble blower, but she still does not like to go under the water. She would give Daddy specific instructions to NOT let her go under the water. One more week of lessons left for this summer session.

After swimming we got in the car and headed up to see our friends Jason, Emily, Aaron, Simon and their new baby sister Lilly. Claire and Lilly are 3 weeks apart (Anna and Aaron are 3 months apart) so there will be lots of fun future play dates with these girlies!
The big kids stayed at Jason and Emily's house with Aaron, Simon and Lilly's grandparents while the adults went out for pizza and conversation with the little girls.
Lilly and Claire having a great time together at pizza.
And in typical fashion with these friends we ordered the biggest pizza on the menu...and failed to eat it all. But we did enjoy the pizza and everyone got a box full of pizza to take home. Really the best part of pizza is the leftovers anyway :)

Today we have had a nice quiet afternoon at home. We went to church this morning and Anna had her first day in the preschool room. This was a big thing for her, as she didn't ever stay in the toddler room unless we were the teachers. So, hopefully we can make this a weekly thing! Tomorrow is her first day visit at her new school, so hopefully that goes as smoothly as drop off at the preschool room went today. She's growing up and getting big and she is very proud to do so!
