Weekend Snows

As usual, we've been busy having fun and being entertained by our two sweet girls.

This was the scene one day last week after Claire had her supper (she tends to need to take her clothes off after her messy supper--bib or not, she's a mess!).

Melt my heart, our girls playing farm together.

While Claire may have have not really gotten the "play together" part, I loved that they were enjoying the same toy peacefully and happily.  Hopefully it's a glimpse of future sister play events.

In other news, our weekend was a crazy one!  We had planned to go back to Iowa to see family and celebrate our nephew Will's 3rd birthday.  While we did accomplish this task, it was done in less than 30 hours including drive time, sleep time and visit time.  We left here around 4:30 Friday, picked up Daddy from work, ate supper on the way, and arrived in Iowa around 9:30.  We saw Papa Dave and Grandma Lynn along with Uncle James and Denise that night.  Woke up to a great breakfast with them and then headed to the birthday party!  We enjoyed lunch and an afternoon of playing with Grandma Lori, Grandpa Randy, Uncle Jason, Aunt Amy and Cousin Will.  Anna and Will had a lot of fun playing together and Claire enjoyed watching the chaos.  Around 4:30 we headed back home to arrive after another dinner stop around 9:30.  Anna went to bed around 10, Claire finally followed a LOT later than that and everyone slept in Sunday morning.  It was a very fast trip but well worth it to see everyone and celebrate Will's big day!

Why did we head home so fast?  Well, the forecast was for a big snow storm so we wanted to beat it, rather than sit in traffic, white knuckling our way home with two tired girls in the backseat.

It was a good decision to head home, Sunday we woke up to sleet/rain/ice/snow and had high hopes for a snow day on Monday.  We spent some time in the snow:

Even Claire got out to enjoy the day.

While the forecasters were correct about Sunday and we were glad to not be traveling, they were NOT correct about Monday in our area.  We woke up with no phone call saying there was a late start or no school.  We were disappointed, but we will appreciate it more when we are done with school before June!

There will be a stay home day for a couple of us tomorrow though, as Claire isn't feeling top notch tonight.  She's got a fever so will stay home tomorrow with Mommy to get extra snuggles and hopefully get rid of whatever ick she's acquired.

This weekend our best friends are coming to visit so hopefully we are all healthy before they arrive!
