We had a very nice 4th of July weekend. We spent the 4th fishing and picnicking and of course watching fireworks!
Our fishing trip wasn't too successful if you were thinking we actually caught fish, but it was successful if you were thinking we had fun! My friend Ann lives on a little lake and her husband had been out catching fish just days before, left and right, right off their dock, so she suggested we come sure that we would catch something. We did have a few bites, but nothing got reeled in except moss. We had fun though and only lost Claire's had in the water once.
After fishing we went to a park to eat our picnic lunch and play with any of the energy that was left in the kiddos. They played hard and then came home and napped hard too!
We opted to not take Claire to fireworks as she is used to a 7:00 bedtime and a 11:00 bedtime would really not be pleasant, so just Anna and Mommy headed to fireworks over the nearby lake. We had never been to these fireworks before so we weren't sure on the best spot to sit, but we just followed the gathering crowd at the golf course and found ourselves a great spot to see and get eaten alive by mosquitoes. The fireworks show was really nice, Anna loved it. We did get a lot of mosquito bites, but Anna said it was worth it.
The rest of our weekend was pretty normal, except a fun trip to our friends' to celebrate Lilly's 1st birthday. We spent the night at their place; it was great to catch up with them and have some extra time to hang out once the kids were all in bed. We headed home Sunday to have a lazy day at home.
This week we have already been busy and it's only Tuesday! There should be a good blog post full of pictures after this week :)
Below are a couple from the 4th fun!

Anna needed a white t-shirt for a project at school for the 4th of July. We forgot to stop at Target and once we were home, I decided we could probably come up with something on our own. So, we took one of Daddy's undershirts and got creative.

She did the print on the front at school, but we cut it up and tied it so it would fit her before she took it to school. I think it turned out OK, especially for a shirt she will most likely just wear one time because she'll outgrow it by next year!
Here's our other little firecracker on the 4th--she wouldn't stand still for a cute picture.
There she goes again!
And to end with just a nice picture of the girls hanging out together. Claire is starting to want to play and be with Anna more and more, and Anna LOVES it too!
