On Thursday the girls and I packed up the car and began a fun roadtrip to Iowa. We started our journey meeting up with our friends Lindsay, Andy, Charlie and Nora. We got to spend all day Friday with our friends. We went out to lunch at the Den on Wartburg's campus and enjoyed some college favorites.
Anna and Lindsay enjoyed a giant pickle.
The babies all enjoyed themselves too!
Anna thought the chili was delicious, and she was right. It's a staple from the caf at Wartburg. Mmmm.
We also enjoyed a Cool Cookie which is a MUST when visiting.
We had walked to campus and Anna rode her bike, so she enjoyed riding around the sidewalks checking out all the great sites Wartburg has to offer.
My girls and me.
Old Main. This is where most of my education classes took place. Lots of time spent in this old building.
Friday night we got to see some other college friends and their cute little guy. It was a wonderful evening full of crazy children making messes and having fun!
Saturday morning we had to pack up again and head out. We of course had to attempt to get a picture of the kiddos all together!
Claire didn't want to sit for too long...
Anna loved playing with the babies.
Saturday we continued our Iowa roadtrip by heading to Dubuque. There we attended a bridal shower for my cousin Heidi and enjoyed time with extended family we don't get to see often.
The girls were pretty tired by that night, so Claire went to bed at a decent time, but Anna stayed up with my cousin Grace and dogsat Bob the bulldog. Grace and Anna ate ice cream sundaes and watched cartoons and took care of Bob while I went out for a bit with my aunts and uncles to win a little money :) Anna had a blast and is still talking about Grace and Bob. She even got $2 for her hard work!
Sunday after a wonderful breakfast and morning with Jane and Ralph, we packed up once again and headed out to the farm. Anna last visited the farm 2 years ago, so she was really excited to go back.
Twin girl calves were just born a couple days ago, so Anna loved petting them and letting them suck on her fingers.
So did Grace!
Claire was intrigued and wanted to check it all out.
She even got really brave and touched the calf.
Then when the calf tried to lick her....
...she wasn't so sure what she thought....
....and ran away..
...very unhappy.
But kittens make everything better...
Anna was really disappointed when we had to leave and we couldn't bring home one of the kittens. She even told me just yesterday that she talked to Lola when we got home and Lola really wishes we had brought home a kitten.
The weekend was fun, but the girls were both worn out by the time we got home. Here they are right after we pulled into the driveway.
It was a great trip; we will definitely have to do it again! The girls were excited to be home and see Daddy! We all missed him!
