Amazing Anna

I guess now that she's almost three months old it's time for her to start learning how to stand so she can be walking by four months! :) Recently as we were working on helping her just sit up, we discovered that she wanted to skip the sitting and go straight to standing. When Anna decides that she is done with the whole laying down business she starts doing crunches...this is your cue to hold her hands and she'll pull herself up into a sitting position, then straighten out her legs and pull herself up to standing. It's pretty cute! However, now laying down is overrated in her book so we spend much of our play time "standing." She loves it; it puts an immediate smile on her face and she loves looking around seeing everything! When she gets crabby, stand her up and she's just fine!

These photos were captured just before bed time the other night. Daddy was helping Anna with one last standing practice before bed. Keep in mind, getting her all excited and giggly before bed means it's going to take a LOT longer to get her to fall asleep...but she's so darn cute, it's ok :)

"Hold my hands Daddy!"
Almost sitting up...
Step one done.
Daddy's so fun!
She just loves playing with daddy!
Now standing up in her bed...no jumping Anna!
Daddy is helping her hold on to the side so she can stand herself...
She did it! Don't mind Brian's hand holding her jammies :)
Walk to the corner to see Mommy with the camera. Talk about a deer in the headlights kind of look! :)
It's hard to believe that on Saturday she will officially be three months old. So many changes have taken place in the past three months, and they keep coming at us...but faster and faster! Three months from now we'll probably be chasing around a crawler...or close to it!
This week has been a little more relaxed than last week preparing for the party. Monday Anna and I just stayed home most of the morning to relax. I called the doctor's office in the morning because Anna had a sniffly nose for the past couple of days, without a temperature, and I just wondered if there was anything else I should/could be doing. She was pretty stuffy and was waking herself up at night (it was tough to get up in the middle of the night after so many nights of 7+ hours in a row of sleep!). They said that I should bring her in, which of course got me a little more worried than I was originally, but we went in that afternoon and she checked out just fine, just a stuffy nose. It should be gone in 3-5 days. Other than waking up in the night and having the runny nose nothing else was unusual. They did weigh her and she's proud to announce that she has now hit the 14 pound mark! (Now, this was fully clothed and to be fair in the past she has had to be naked.) She's a growing girl! This means we may need to move up a size in diapers...better get those size ones all used up!
Today we got up and went for a walk on the trail near our house. It's nice to walk in the morning before it gets too hot. Tonight Anna and Daddy are going to have an evening of bonding while I go out to supper with friends and to a kids stuff sale to find goodies for Anna. Hopefully it's a big success! We need to start finding some 6 and 9 month outfits for this fall. She's already wearing some of her 6 month stuff because of her height, however the pants are always way too big around her waist, so I'm not sure what we're going to do about that problem. Maybe we'll find some fun toys too...
Thursday is Baby and Me class in the morning and then we're meeting up with friend Shari to pick up some fun toys for Anna that her mom is giving away...a kiddie picnic table is included! Fun!
This weekend we are going to Iowa for a family reunion with Brian's side of the family on Saturday. It will be fun because Anna has not yet met all of these family members! Next weekend is another family trip to Iowa to meet some of my side of the family and see some friends along the way. We also get to stay with Lindsay and Andy at their NEW house! Busy, busy!
Only about 2.5 weeks left of summer...sad :( However, it will be good to get into a routine and figure out how this whole thing is going to work; especially if we keep having to get up in the middle of the night to feed Anna! Could be an interesting year for us! Those poor 8th graders who may have to have a tired and potentially crabby math teacher :)
