Friday night, as in the previous post was a good start to our weekend, but I think I jinxed us by writing that on Saturday morning and titling it as I did because an hour later we were driving down the road on our way to go bowling when Brian hit the brakes for a yellow light and as we stopped the truck felt a little funny. We didn't think much of it until the light turned green again and we started to go but the truck was definitely not feeling right...it was very bumpy and when I looked in the mirror it was very obvious what our problem was...a very floppy, flat tire! Brian crossed the two lanes of traffic and pulled off to a fairly flat spot and we both got out to exam the problem. I am not sure about Brian, but I had never actually changed a flat tire before...yes, I've had one, but never had to change it myself; I was close enough to home to get there for my dad to fix it :-) ...so, this was going to be a fun life experience for our new little family.
At the start of the problem Anna was sleeping, but this did not last long. I got out the owners manual and started reading about how to fix our tire, where the jack was located and how to get the spare off the bottom of the truck...and Brian did the actual labor. As we were fixing the problem and rather proud of ourselves for doing so, Anna woke up and decided she was not pleased with the current situation. She decided to scream and cry for the remainder of the experience. Because we were on the side of the road, and had a task to complete, she really just had to stay put and listen to us tell her, "It's okay, we're almost done." Long story short, the spare tire got put on, the flat put in the back and we were back on our way. As soon as the vehicle started moving again, Anna fell right back to sleep. Strange how she knows the most convenient times to cry.
So, anyway, our leisurely day of bowling just got shaken up a bit. We decided to go bowling anyway while we thought about our next move...do we want new tires today or are we willing to take the risk of not having a spare and wait? Well, after some games of bowling, we went in search of new tires. We have been thinking about getting new tires for the truck since we bought it, but this definitely sped up that process. We successfully found new tires and had them replaced. We were able to run our other errands while the tires got put on because one of our errands was to pick up our other car that we left at SuperValu after I picked up Brian the night before to go to Chris and Renee's house. So at least we didn't have to sit at the tire place for an hour with Anna and then still have errands to run!
Throughout the whole thing Anna was quite a trooper! Good thing too, because we had only brought one 7 ounce bottle with us for the "short" trip so we were nervous she may not make it. But that bottle held her over and she seemed to have a good time!
We picked up our professional 2 month pictures at Target while we were out and about. It was really fun to get some more formal pictures of Anna taken. She wasn't really into the whole picture taking thing, but at least we got some good pictures out of it and we'll go back again in another month or so. We were pleased with the results.
I guess the rest of the day was spent at home relaxing. Sunday was a typical Sunday for us, church and then an afternoon at home. We had some around the house projects to do yesterday, a little cleaning, a few little unfinished projects, etc that got done so it was fairly productive. One thing that aided in our productivity was Anna's afternoon nap. Yes...it was pretty much for the entire afternoon, almost 3 hours! This had not really happened before yesterday so it was a nice chance to get some things done for both of us...usually one has to entertain Anna while the other gets their projects complete and then switch. But this was a new experience, we were both able to accomplish some things! And as a nice surprise, she's doing the same thing today...taking a nice long nap this afternoon! Allowing me to update the blog, do some laundry, and make a grocery list. It is kind of funny how exciting it is for her to take a long nap! :)
Anyway, that was our weekend in a nutshell. This week is a lighter one than past weeks: tomorrow we have a play date with Oliver and his mom Laura in the afternoon, then my friend Kaela is coming by tomorrow night, Wednesday is mommy and me class, and then nothing is scheduled until Friday when my dad and brother are coming up and the weekend of family coming for baptism will begin! We are excited to have everyone up this weekend, keep your fingers crossed that the rain holds off.
Here are some fun pictures from the weekend:
Anna is getting really strong, and tummy time is more fun for her now that she can lift her head and really see!

Well, I think I hear Anna calling, so this post will end here. :-)
What a cutie! And what an adventure for the 3 of you!! We ended up in the Urgent Care for Brecken on Saturday so we had our own adventure, to say the least. All is good though and B got his 2-month shots today. Slept through most of them even!!
