Fun at the ZOO!

We FINALLY did it.  We have been talking about how we needed/wanted to go to the zoo for a loooong time and we finally got there!  Earlier this week Anna and I went to the library and they had the free zoo passes available, so we got one and hoped for a nice weather weekend...and it couldn't have been better!

The day started off cool, when we got there our car thermometer said 48 degrees, but we had jackets and high spirits.  Anna had slept on the way there, so she was a little slow to start when we first got to the zoo...but once she got moving, she didn't stop until we were in the car on the way home!  She loved everything about the zoo; being able to run free, see the animals, make animal noises, she loved it all.  It was a great day, not too busy at all and the sun was out!

Here are some pictures from our adventure.

Checking out the crazy monkeys that were making LOTS of noise!

 The crazy monkeys!
 Look Dad!
 Checking out the birds.
She loved being down, walking on her own, being able to see from her level.
The zoo had lots of great nooks and caves for little kiddos to play in.  This one was tall enough that Anna could have walked through it, but to feel more like an adventure she wanted to crawl.
She got to the end and ran back through again.  She was in heaven!
Sitting on the rocks, posing for mommy.
 Checkin out the fish.
 Climbing the rock wall....
to check out the scary bears!
They were huge and very close to the window.
One of the major highlights was probably the goats.  Anna could have stayed in petting the goats all day.
This little black one was a favorite...it really liked Anna because she had cracker crumbs on her fingers.
 She liked the big goat.
 Pet nice Anna.
 More petting.
Suddenly, she was surrounded by goats.  They loved her.
Helping her out of the herd.
 Hi Dad!
The farm was great...mostly because Anna could recognize so many of the animals and "talked" to them in their native language.

Moooo!  She yelled "moo" throughout the cow barn.
 Little pigglets!
Climbing on the baby statue pigs.
She saw this little barn with face cutouts and ran right to it among all the other big kids.  Climbed up on the stool inside and posed perfectly for a picture.  What happened to our baby?
 So fun Mom and Dad!
 She got a chicken hat.
And enjoyed a pickle with her lunch.  I hate pickles so Brian is very excited that Anna loves them.
 "Fall picture"
"I want to take this home Mom."
Anna love, love, loved the zoo.  Another favorite (with no pictures) was the rabbits, she kept yelling "abbit" at them and wanted to go back twice.  Next year at the zoo will be even more exciting, she'll be even more interested in the different animals and perhaps start asking millions of questions like some of the other kids we saw at the zoo today! :)

Finally, a picture of Anna and her new sandbox.  We didn't get it painted and done in time for sand this year, but definitely next spring it will be a hit!  Grandpa S built this for Anna, complete with benches to sit on.  Next year we'll have a lid for it and it will be a sand box/picnic table.  Mommy finally got it all painted so it'll be ready to go!  (Excuse the dust, it was in daddy's shop and he's been busy working on lots of projects!)
