Today was a sick day at our house. We have been wiping the little nuggets nose for a couple weeks now and recently she's developed a cough. This morning at 5 AM she woke up and had a cough attack, so we opted to stay home and see the doctor today. The doctor checked her out, no temp, no ear infection, lungs sounded good, little fluid on her ears, but clearly, she isn't kicking this cold...so onto antibiotics we go. Because of the allergy to penicillin we get some interesting meds. Some real thick gunk...but Anna likes it. Taking medication has always been a thrill for Anna, she always asks for more. Hopefully she continues to be good about taking her medicine. She also got her flu shot today. When the doctor was checking her out, she gave her a sticker to keep her calm. When the nurse came in for the shot, I asked if we could have a sticker ready to go so Anna could have it right after her shot. After the shot, as soon as we mentioned the word "sticker" she calmed down and was thrilled to have ANOTHER sticker. Then the nurse got even cooler in Anna's eyes...she took two stickers, stuck them together on a tongue depressor and gave it to her as a "sticker lollipop." Anna was in heaven. She carried that proudly back to the front desk and didn't let go of it until we got to the pharmacy for her prescription.
After the morning trauma, we had a relaxing day at home, with a nice nap, lots of playing, and some cuddle time. I think tomorrow she'll be back to 100%.
Wow. Sickness goes drastically different in the Walker household :( As is evident by Brecken's 15th ear infection!! If Brecken so much as cough, Eric and I look at our calendars and figure out how to divvy up the next week of "sick days" for Brecken to stay home and visit his friend, Dr. Bodine. I'm jealous! B also loves his medicine, so has enjoyed that his first antibiotic that he was on for 10 days didn't do the trick and he got prescribed a second kind for another 5 days. As soon as he sees the little bottle come out of the fridge, he starts signing "please" and after we give it to him in the syringe he immediately starts saying "more more more." What a freak!
ReplyDeleteIt must be that time of year because Kallie had 2 sick days this week with Daddy!!! YAY!
