Sunday was a beautiful day outside, almost too warm for my taste, so we headed over to the local apple orchard to get some apples and select the all exciting and anticipated PUMPKIN! Anna loved everything about the orchard this year! Last year she wasn't quite as into it, this year we couldn't slow her down!
Picking out a pumpkin.
She tried to carry lots of pumpkins herself.
I like this one Dad!
The annual picture by the apple man.
She didn't stand still for very long, from looking through the pictures I would guess her to be just above the 2.5 foot mark. (Her 18 month well-baby visit was just scheduled for November so we'll know soon enough how tall our little giraffe is!)
She stopped at the top of the hill and pointed very excitedly at the kids playing on the wooden train at the bottom.
She ran straight down the hill...without falling I might add.
Hanging with the big kids.
She found her first apple!
Big first bite.
She dove right in and did a number on the first apple.
Looking for more...on her level.
Gotta love the diaper butt!
Walking with Daddy to find more apples. Precious!
Searching the ground.
Love this picture because it shows how big her feet are...size 7!
Anna also enjoyed the animals. She saw goats, chickens and here she is with the calf.
Trudging through the hay.
When we got home, we took our apples and cut them up, ready to put them in a pie. Anna helped! Here she is at her new Anna sized kitchen table ready to put in the crust.
She wasn't sure how to get the dough onto the plate...
So I helped her and she worked on pressing it out.
She thought she needed to mix a little more....she even made sounds for the mixer...it was hilarious because I hadn't even used the mixer that day. She's so quick to pick up on things!
Shakin' the apples with the sugar and cinnamon.
More shakin'
I think it's done mom!
I poured the apples into the crust and told Anna to sit by it and say cheese...instead she swiped some apples while mommy's fingers were busy with the camera.
Yum!
When we had put the crumble on top, we decided to keep the pie out of Anna's reach, but let her get her picture near the pie....
This was her face after we put it in the oven. Apparently she thought we would get to eat pie right away.
She really did help/watch the entire time. She used her potty chair stool in the kitchen and could just see over the counters.
Finishing up supper so she can have PIE!
Posing with her pie.
First bite! For some reason, she often closes her eyes when you give her bites of food...
Daddy wasn't feeing her fast enough, she had to help!
I love pie!
Okay, I know I always comment on how big she is but I seriously just can't believe it. I know you and Brian are both tall and all though Ryan is tall, Kallie definitely got stunted by my height. I am just amazed with how tall she was against the orchard sign and that she has size 7 shoes!!!!!!!! Kallie just jumped into size 3 and we were so excited because I couldn't find many size 1 and 2 with soles on the bottom, because most are slipper-like for babies. Anyway, Anna is super cute and I love how much her personality grows. It gives me something great to look forward to in a couple of months (all though Kallie definitely won't be able to eat an apple until she gets some bottom teeth or reach the counter just by using a stool).
ReplyDeleteI love this post!! A few things.... 1.) I'm pretty sure we go to the same orchard yearly and MUST coordinate times one of these years! 2.) Anna has the same kid-sized kitchen table as Brecken and he also loves it 3.) I love that Anna helped make the entire pie! I was thinking about making one with Brecken this weekend... He will probably eat half of the apples out of the pie pan before it goes into the oven though! 4.) Brecken also has HUGE feet (he's almost out of size 6!) 5.) I love, love, love, love, LOVE the picture of Anna's sad face after the pie went into the oven... It's just so hard to understand!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, and such a busy little girl! Love the pigtails!
