It's been a long time since we had an update for our blog readers, but tonight, we finally have a chance to update you on our lives! It's been busy and we've got lots of stories...but first, the 18-month stats from Anna's appointment on Friday:
Height- 35" (almost 3' tall)
Weight- 28 pounds, 15 ounces
Head- 50 cm
All of her measurements, except her weight (95%), were WAY above that 95%-ile line. She's a growing girl and the nurse who called us back was shocked by her height. Yep, she's a tall girl, kinda what we expected! The doctor had nothing but good healthy things to say about our little peanut. She's right on track, growing proportionately and talking up a storm. Next appointment is not until she's 2...hopefully we can avoid the doctor's office until then, but something tells me that won't happen.
So where have we been? What happened to our updates? Seems like we fell off the face of the planet in blog-world. Last weekend we kind of felt like we did...
Last weekend was the first big snow of the season...so of course we bundled up on Saturday morning ready to capture the perfect Kodak moment in the snow...and of course we did:
Bundling up...
The first sight of the snow.
Anna's first step into the snow!
Trudging through. It was hard for her to move, all bundled up and it was up to her knees!
Making snow balls with daddy.
Throwing snowballs at mommy. Yes, that is a snowball coming right at me!
After all our fun in the snow we came back inside to find that our electricity was out. We weren't too concerned as it was only 10 AM and we were going to a party that afternoon, so surely by the time we got home, the lights would be back on. However...this was our evening when we got home:
Anna and her light.
We had no electricity all of Saturday, so that night we headed to friends Shari and Steve and spent the night so we could stay warm. In the morning, it was still out, so we went out and did some shopping, got home, still no lights. Finally at 6:30 or so, when the temp in the house was in the lower 50s it finally came back on. The irony of it all....we just had a new furnace installed on Friday that we couldn't even try out for the weekend!
It was quite the weekend...and our excuse for not updating the blog last week!
This weekend was a nice one...we had electricity first off, and second, we had an early Thanksgiving celebration with Grandpa and Grandma S, Auntie Kate and Uncle James. They came up to our house and we had a turkey with all the trimmings, did some shopping, lots of playing and enjoyed the weekend.
Anna showed off her awesome dress up assortment...here is our unicorn ballerina.
After a fun and busy weekend (which we didn't really capture too many pictures of) our guests headed safely back south and we headed out for a little shopping. We got some more Christmas shopping done (we're being very efficient this year). One of our stops was to pick up a new sled for Anna for Christmas. She was so excited when we picked it out and put it in our cart...I said, "Anna, isn't it awesome?" And she very clearly said, "Awesome." And then continued to call it an "awesome" all night long. We tried to correct her and say "sled" but really, how cute is it that she called it "awesome?!"
When we got home, the "awesome" was supposed to go downstairs to wait for Christmas, but Anna saw it come in and really wanted to play with it. We decided, just for tonight, she could try it out. So we played with the "awesome" in the living room for a while. Anna got pulled around the room, Anna pulled Daddy around the room, and even Mommy got a turn! The highlight of the evening was when Pascal wanted to ride:
Anna and Pascal riding together.
Pascal's turn to do the pulling.
"Get back in there Pascal!"
"You stay here."
Pull!
She pulled him right on down the hallway.
When he tried to escape, she grabbed him....
And hauled him back to the sled.
Plop.
Come back here!
Going in for the grab.
Cornering him...
Got 'cha! (Don't mind the mess of chocolate on her face....she likes to save her cookies for later sometimes.)
Back to the sled he goes...
Pascal was not harmed in the making of these pictures. While he wasn't particularly fond of being dragged around, he was a great sport and really does have more patience than we expected he would have with Anna.
Well, I'm sure there are more stories, like how Anna likes to dip her Cheetoes on her apple sauce, or how she went through about 5 sheets of stickers this weekend with her art work, but I think this update catches up on the big stuff. We had a great weekend this past weekend with family and are looking forward to another great weekend with family coming up.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Oh Pascal is such a good sport!
