Uncle James' Project

So besides the great holiday of Halloween, this weekend brought my brother and sister up north to do a little family project!  We bought our home 5 years ago, and while we have done a lot inside, we have neglected the outside.  So, this is the start of our outside redo.  We had this pointless and messy cement slab on the east side of our house...and my handy-dandy brother said he could take care of that for us.

Before:
Yuck.
(Side note-he also brought with him a new snowblower for us.  Our new one could snowblow right over the top of our old one.  All Minnesotans can thank us...there will now be no snow this winter.)
Ok, back to the project...this is what James brought with to get the job done:
Anna liked to watch.
There he goes, ready to bust up some concrete.
The first breaks....

All busted up and some hauled away...
James is having too much fun!
Meanwhile...Anna falls asleep with all the excitment with Auntie Katie.
And the boys finish...
Much better...even without grass it looks better.  Next spring we'll plant more grass and it will be a nice side yard...perhaps ready for a playset for someone short.
Happy that Katie came to visit!
Chillin' with Uncle James.
Just plain happy!
Upside-down!
She loved doing upside down with James...she keep saying, "more, side down?"

What a great weekend and a very successful project.  Thanks to James for all his "manual" labor and thanks to Kate for the entertainment of Anna!
