Thanksgiving Break 2010

Oh how we love breaks and long weekends!  Thanksgiving Break is always a great one because it's just a taste of the awesomeness of Christmas Break only a few shorts week away!  This Thanksgiving Break was a nice one indeed.

It started on Wednesday night, when Daddy got home early because of the potential heavy snow.  We were all home and cozy by 3:45, a rarity at our house.  We made the most of our extra long evening together by cooking up some warm chili and dragging out all those Christmas decoration boxes.  Yes, the night before Thanksgiving we decorated for Christmas.  Normally, that's against our house rules, no Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving, but sometimes it's OK to break the rules.  So up the tree went and some decorations...

Anna smiling for the camera while sorting through the Christmas tree pieces.  We're fake tree people right now...perhaps someday we will get a real tree.  Brian always had real trees, I always had fake.  We'll just be a blended Christmas tree family.
Anna is very into pictures and Pascal.  She wanted me to take a picture of Pascal, she even told him to say "cheese."  He didn't.  But she did!
Anna helping Daddy put the top on!
The many boxes of lights, ornaments and decor were a thrill for Anna.  She loved opening them up and finding all the treasures inside.  Here she is hugging a tiny snow man she fell in love with.
 More treasures.
After doing some decorating, we just relaxed the rest of the evening.  We were not making a Thanksgiving dinner the next day, so we didn't have to worry about cooking.  We had our turkey last weekend.  On Thanksgiving Day we went to a friend's family Thanksgiving who we are close with and enjoyed their company and amazing food.  It was fabulous.  Anna had a great time playing with all her new friends.  The older girls loved her!  She played hard.

By the time we got home...she was out.  Anna doesn't transfer well anymore from carseat to crib, so we decided to lay her on the chair so see if she might continue napping and to our surprise, she napped for almost 2 hours on the chair.
Thursday night we were anxious for some visitors.  Grandpa and Grandma F were coming to spend some time with us for Thanksgiving too.  They arrived late Thursday evening and enjoyed some Anna time.

Some of the best Anna time, though, is in the morning....in her jammies and her very smiley face.
She got some goldfish crackers in a present sent from Great Grandma and Grandpa and she sorted them into her new gingerbread baking sheet.  She was proud.
Being goofy with her "middens" and "haut."
And of course, she spent many hours covering everyone in stickers.  Her FAVORITE thing in the world.
Even Bailey got covered in stickers.  He was a good sport.
Finishing off Grandma's juice for her.  Anna's really into drinking from a big cup now.
Laughing really hard after she counted to three and threw gold fish at grandpa.
"Two... one... two... freeee!"
Stickers on the fish tank too!
On Saturday we went downtown for a surprise birthday party for Great-Uncle Ron.

Here's a Mommy-Anna shot.  She was very nervous with all the new people.
Trying to get Anna to warm up.  She was clinging to me very tightly!
 Family photo opp.
The guest of honor.  He looked surprised!
 Enjoying some birthday cake.
Coloring.  She loves coloring.  And now, she's even allowed to color with the big kids at daycare, since she finally stopped eating the crayons.
She even got to pick out a puppet to take home.  She picked the very pink flamingo of course!
Back at home on Saturday night we finished decorating for Christmas.  We finally put the ornaments on the tree.  We weren't really sure what Anna would think of the ornaments, or if she would leave them on the tree.  But as usual, she surprised us by totally "getting it" and she even helped put them on.
 Picking out some ornaments.
 Putting them on the tree.

 Good job Anna!
Now our tree and house is all ready for Santa to come and visit!

It was a wonderful weekend full of family, friends, decorating, Christmas shopping and fun.  We even wrapped a few presents tonight to put under our Christmas tree! I'm not sure who is more excited about Christmas, Mommy or Anna.  Last year our Christmas was full of the flu and bad weather, so this year, we are really hoping for a healthy Christmas morning.
