Random Thoughts

Anna can now open the Blu-Ray player, put in the movie she wants and close it. All I have to do is turn everything else on. She loves to "push the button!"

According to the "double their height at two" rule for predicting height, Anna will be around 6'1". However, when Brian was 2 he was about 35 inches, which means he shouldn't even be 6', so perhaps that predictor isn't too accurate. Regardless, we're guessing she'll be tall.

Anna's favorite fruit is blueberries.

Picky-ness has started at our house. Suddenly, "no like it" is a common phrase for things she ate just yesterday. The upside is that while she was picking through her stir fry the other night, she was picking out all the broccoli not because she doesn't like it, but because that was the only part she wanted to eat.

The 'twos' are in full swing at our house. Anna is independent, everything is "Anna do it!", "Anna pick it out!". (We are trying to work on our pronouns, and say "I" rather than third person speak all the time.)

Anna's getting much more conversational on the phone. Tonight when Brian called to say he was on his way home, she chatted with him for a while. She even responded to 'How was your day?' with 'Good. At Sandra's house. Played toys.'

Outside is her current favorite location. We ate supper outside tonight and I think she actually ate more tonight than she had in the last three suppers combined. It was so fun and exciting she had worked up an appetite!

Anna is starting to remember so many things now. She talks about things that happened days, sometimes weeks ago. She helps remind us of future events, such as playing with her friend Nathan this weekend.

We are all excited that we only have to buy one kind of milk now, no more whole milk in our house. Although, Anna really likes chocolate milk, so we may have to have two kinds every now and then.

Anna can't quite reach the basketball hoop that we got her for her birthday, so we're using the mattress from her toddler bed to "boost" her shot.

Shrek is her favorite movie. It tops all other movies including Cinderella and Finding Nemo. She requests watching Shrek almost daily. We don't watch it daily, but she sure requests it. She loves donkey and Princess Fiona.

Anna prefers to ride in "mommy's car" to "daddy's car" because my car has a DVD player and her CD of music. Sometimes when we go somewhere she cries if we take Brian's car.

Anna's favorite food is pizza. She LOVES pizza Friday and can take down two slices or more on some occasions.

Every morning Anna has to push the button to open the garage and push the button in the car to close it when we leave. She also ALWAYS waves and blows kisses to me as I drive away in the morning. It's the sweetest and best thing to see every morning before I go to work.

She currently wants to wear her flip flops everywhere. Sometimes the strap slips off and it's a catastrophe. Her purple pair aren't probably going to last through the summer the way she is already starting to wear them out!

Anna likes to brush her teeth about 15 times a day when we are home. She's got some pearly whites!

Her current favorite outfit is a skirt with leggings.

Anna has improved her bubble blowing skills since last summer. She actually produces some bubbles from her puffs of air.

We are in limbo with our stroller right now. When we go for walks at night Anna doesn't want to ride in it, but she can only make it so far before she wants to be carried. My one step equals about four of hers so she really gets a workout quickly. And Mommy really gets a workout quickly when she has to carry the extra 30 pounds for the remainder of the walk.

Anna knows that there is a toy section in Target. She requests visiting it every time we are there.

Anna loves Pascal and Lola. She wants to hold them all the time; they don't want to be held very often, if ever.

Anna is never tired. Just ask her.

Every morning Anna and Daddy share a bowl of cereal. Lately she has to have her own spoon. And she drinks the milk when they are done.

Only Mommy can ever push a shopping cart when we are shopping. If Daddy even looks like he wants to push the cart there is trouble.

At Cub we have to get the "big cart." The one that has the extra three foot add on that makes it look like a car and makes it impossible to maneuver. I have gotten it stuck in a few corners in the store and had to back out and try making the corner again. It's embarrassing.

Public restrooms with a two year old are a very interesting experience. The questions that are asked by the two year old make you want to stay in the stall until all other people have exited the bathroom.

School buses are Anna's favorite vehicle. I think she would go crazy if she actually got to ride on one. She's always on the lookout and will yell "School Bus!" the instant she sees one.

Anna is a loving, caring, cuddly little girl and we love her to pieces!

  2. Happy Birthday Anna!! It is fun to read about all the great things she is up to these days.
2 is such a fun age, the change from little toddler to a "big kid" seems to happen over night, don't blink!
Sounds like she is a real go-getter and quite the talker, ask her if she wants to give Kenton some lessons, as he is in NO hurry to say much with his whopping 10 words and he will be 2 next month. Oh well, he is learning early to be a man of few words!!
