Today Anna got to attend her 2nd field trip at her school with Ms. Jessica. This time I was "allowed" to chaperone. If you recall, last fall they went to an orchard and we were told that it was just for Anna and her friends....but then after seeing that other friends' parents chaperoned, it was OK for me to attend this time. In fact, Anna was really excited about having Mommy come to school with her. Mommy was excited too!
We got home from school on Monday and right away Anna wanted to get her lunch packed for the field trip on Tuesday. So she got right to work. She got the new juice boxes out of the fridge and opened the package so she could take one. She did the same with the applesauce. This was all done before I had even gotten Claire's coat hung up from walking in the door. By the time we got to the kitchen Anna was wanting to make her sandwich.
Anna got bread, jelly, meat and cheese out for her sandwich. Yes, jelly and lunch meat sandwich! That's what she wanted, so that is what she made. Here are some pictures of the sandwich making process:
Squeezing on the jelly.
Lots of jelly.
Mom, why can't I make my own jelly sandwich?
Spreading out the jelly.
Adding little pieces of cheese.
She had put one little piece of meat in the middle, but we decided to go back and add on a bit more.
All done mom! She was so excited to have the "butt" of the bread. It's her favorite slice in the bag!
She put her lunch in the fridge so it would be all ready to go!
This morning she ran right to the fridge to get her lunch out, then said, "Mommy, take my picture while I say 'Field trip day!'"
She was pumped to say the least.
The field trip was wonderful. Miss Jessica did a great job of organizing a wonderful trip to a nature center. The kids saw a puppet show to start....
Then got to go outside and see the sap dripping from the trees.
They even got to taste the sap.
Trudging through the woods.
Checking more sap bags.
Anna was very attentive.
When they got back inside they got to play in the sensory room where they got to try to drill their own holes in a log to pound in the sap spouts.
Anna loved using a real hammer!
They got to see lots of turtles, snakes, and salamanders as well. It was a wonderful trip.
I got to sit next to this big girl on the bus ride to and from her school.
After the trip, Anna went back to school and Mommy headed back to her school. It was a wonderful morning and I think the nature center will be on our list of fun places we will visit again this summer.
