Labor Day Weekend

Backing up a little to Labor Day weekend...

We had some visitors from Iowa and Anna was so excited to be able to show them her favorite orchard hang out.  To Fall Harvest we went!

Anna's favorite part is the chickens.  She LOVES to hold the baby chicks.  She would stay all day in the baby chick rooms.

Showing Grandma Lynn the baby chicks.

Claire is learning how to be gentle.  She doesn't reach in and grab them on her own, she always waits for Anna to hold one for her to pet.

Anna also fell in love with one of the kittens.  This one was so gentle and loved to be carried around the farm by Anna.  She didn't want to leave him behind.

Claire in the corn bin.

Silly girls!

Anna also got to pet the goats.  This was mama goat, she couldn't quite catch those quick little baby goats.

Three little pigs.  :)

And one of the owners of the farm showed Anna how to put an apple on a stick and feed the cow.  She loved it!

Daddy and Claire.

Back at the baby chicks o she could show Grandpa Dave.

One last look at the baby chicks before we had to go.

Mr. Rooster was roaming around.  Beautiful color.

After Fall Harvest, we did a little shopping and hanging out.  It was a great weekend before the start of school.

And now, the first week of school is done, how many are left?  Just kidding!  We are back into the swing of things, but were thankful for this past weekend to recover our systems.

We didn't do a great job of just sitting around and relaxing, instead we picked 7 bags of apples at our friend Ann's house, made quite a few quarts of applesauce and tomato puree, tore up the linoleum in the mud room and purchased the tile that will soon be covering the floor along with the beautiful bench that Brian has almost finished to go in the mud room once the floor is back.  Needless to say, our house is a bit upside-down right now, but you know, what's the start of a school year without a project underway!?  Hopefully in the coming weeks we'll have updated pictures to share with our readers!
