The best thing about the first Sunday of Summer is knowing that tomorrow you don't have to go to school. It's not your typical Sunday. There's no anticipation (good or bad) about having to go back to routine tomorrow. Anna and Mommy are ready for a GREAT summer! This weekend was a great kick-off to our summer and we can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store.
This morning we headed to church, here is our princess before we left.
Smiling pretty.
Then it was Anna's turn to try the camera. She took about 8 pictures, and did happen to catch this one of Daddy. I think she did a great job! (We also got a couple great ones of the coffee table in front of him.)
The temperature outside today was a bit cooler than yesterday, but that was ok, we still had some project to finish. After lunch and Anna's nap we headed outside to finish our project. We took these pictures before clean-up was 100% complete, but you get the idea.
The finished product. Much simpler than what was there before.
Anna also helped Daddy plant some new grass where we dug out the cement slab last fall.
Anna sitting proudly next to her project. She did help a lot!
Hi Anna.
Distraction, wait, I found a little bug!
Here it is...
See Mommy...
Checking the mail is a much more fun job now that it looks pretty!
After our project was finished we headed inside to work on making some supper and a surprise cake for Daddy. A tent shaped cake for Father's Day. We are going camping next weekend, so we thought we would make him a cake this week to enjoy before the trip. We didn't take any pictures; it didn't turn out that fabulous, but it was a fun little project for Anna. She got to pick the frosting colors and squeeze in the food coloring.
After supper and a little cake we went for a walk and played in the sandbox for a bit. Then Anna was ready for bed. She's been going to bed really well lately, with no crying at all. It only took 2 years of crying at bed time....but now we are a big girl, in our big bed.
Our big girl's summer starts tomorrow...and we have some excitement in store. Library story time and some fun outside I'm sure. Look for many upcoming stories and adventures of summer vacation!
