One week from today, we are going to embark on a journey...camping. I realize that may seem a bit overstated, but it is definitely going to be quite the journey. Brian, Anna and myself are going to meet up with friends, Jason, Emily and their little guy Aaron on Saturday to head WAY up north to do some real camping...like no running water or electricity camping. We aren't staying at a state park, we're going tenting in the state forest. Two years ago when it was just the adults, before the small children, we went and had a great time. I'm not one for being in nature, but after a couple days, embraced it...I didn't have much other choice as showering only happened once on our 7 day trip. While we aren't doing a 7 day trip, we are shooting for Saturday-Wednesday, so plenty of days with the little ones.
Of course a trip like this requires a lot of prep work and list making on my part. I already have a long list of stuff we "need" and that's just for Anna. Could be a car-full!
As part of our prep work, last night we set up the tent (yes, in our living room) to determining how our mattress and Anna's pack-n-play were both going to fit and to give Anna a chance to check it out before we go. We talked about trying to sleep in it one night, but I think we'll just wing it next week.
Of course I got a couple of pictures while we set it up...it was quite interesting as it takes up our entire family room floor and it's a little tricky to get around it (and it's still up right now). Guess we won't be using the family room for a couple days.
Anna was curious from the start:
Here she looks a little scared, but it was just because Daddy was vacuuming out the tent and she HATES the vacuum.
It's so big!
Checking out her bed while Daddy filled our mattress.
She was excited to jump on the mattress once it was filled.
I think we are going to have a wonderful time. Anna is going to love being outside constantly and therefore should sleep well...should. It could be the start of a fun family tradition and a great one to start with such great friends....did I mention Emily will be 32 weeks pregnant? She's a trooper!
