Monday Anna started her first day of swimming lessons. She is in a class of three girls...Anna, Ava, and Emma. It's a fun little group and nice to have a little swim time every day. Because we have Auntie Kate here, we were able to get some pictures from her lessons today:
Practicing our bubble blowing.
Back float.
Kicking!
Hi Kate!
She doesn't look as happy here as she had just gone under water...she's not a big fan of that part.
Kicking!
She loves throwing the toys and then "swimming" to get them. Good thing I have long arms because she really likes to dive after them. Here it almost looks like she's swimming on her own...don't fear...my long arms have a great hold on her!
Throwing the duck...
Diving for the duck.
YAY!
The half hour goes quickly, but it's more than enough time for Anna. She's pretty wore out by the end and was holding on pretty tightly today.
More bubble blowing.
Hugs.
She was really excited to stand on his nice little bench in the water that the preschoolers use in their lessons. This way she could stand on her own and not have to be held onto by me as much.
Such a big girl (the biggest in her class actually--the other two are 7 months and 10 months--so Anna's very advanced :))
Swimming lessons go for 2 weeks...four days a week...30 minutes a day. I think by the end we will have learned some good safety stuff and our goal is to get her to blow bubbles. She really wants to, but every time she gets close to the water with her face she opens her mouth and it looks as though she's going to lap up the water like a dog. We'll keep you posted on how things go.
